Sliding Lunge: White Label Exercise Explainer

This week’s White Label Exercise Explainer is all about shaking things up with a twist on the classic reverse lunge – we’re adding in a SLIDING element to really kick things up! 💪 We’re all about embracing the new this week at WhiteLabelWorkouts.com … and this move will fire up your client’s routines in a whole new way!

Let’s dive into the Reverse Lunge with Sliders – a fun and effective variation that’ll keep your clients on their toes (literally)!

🔄 How To:

  1. Setup: Grab a pair of sliders – plastic plates, dish towels, you name it! Place one under each foot and alternate legs, or for a slight modification, just use 1 slider under 1 foot, and complete all reps on the 1 side before doing the other.
  2. Starting Position: Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your hands on your hips or by your sides.
  3. Execution: Step back with one foot, lowering your body until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle. Keep your front knee aligned with your ankle and your chest lifted.
  4. Return: Push through the heel of your front foot to return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side.

🎯 Coaching Cues:

  • Keep your chest lifted and shoulders back throughout the movement.
  • Focus on pressing through the heel of your front foot as you return to standing.
  • Control the movement, especially as you slide your foot back.
  • If having sliders under both feet is too much for your clients in this move, encourage them to use just 1, and complete all the reps on 1 leg before changing to the next.

❌ Common Errors:

  • Allowing the front knee to extend past the toes.
  • Collapsing forward at the hips or rounding the back.
  • Losing balance or stability due to improper foot placement on the sliders.

👍 Why It’s Great Using Sliders:

Using sliders adds an extra challenge to traditional exercises by requiring increased stability and control. It engages muscles in a different way, particularly the core and stabilizer muscles, making it an excellent choice for improving balance and coordination. Plus, it’s a low-impact option that’s gentle on the joints while still delivering a killer workout!
