Last week we went deep on tempo training — the science behind it … why it works … what it does to muscle fibre recruitment … and why changing up tempos is actually the fastest way to results. If you missed it, go back and read that one first. It’s worth it. Read it here >>
This week? We’re putting it into practice with the Tempo Booty Burn White Label Workout 🍑🔥 [FREE DOWNLOAD … see below]
Because the feedback on tempo workouts has been incredible — coaches are sharing them, clients are feeling them, and honestly? The burn is SO real that we may have created a monster. 😅
So before we roll into May, I wanted to give you one last sneak peek. A freebie. A taste of what tempo training actually feels like when it’s fully guided, follow-along, and ready to brand as your own.
And yes — your clients are going to love you AND want to fire you at the same time. You’re welcome.
But first — let’s talk about something every fitness coach needs to hear right now.
Summer is Coming. And It’s Coming For Your Client Retention.
Every year. Without fail.
May hits and suddenly everything shifts.
School is winding down. The weather gets gorgeous. Schedules explode with year-end events, sports days, graduations, vacations being planned, patios being enjoyed.
Life gets FULL. Beautifully, chaotically full.
And fitness? For a lot of clients — it quietly slides down the priority list.
Not because they don’t care. Not because your programming isn’t great. But because life is loud in summer and habits are fragile things.
Here’s what I’ve learned after 15 years of training real humans through every season
The coaches who keep their clients engaged through summer aren’t the ones who work harder in May. They’re the ones who planned smarter in April.
So let’s do exactly that. Right now. Before May 1st hits.
Here are 5 things you can do — starting this week — to protect your client retention all summer long.
1. Shorten the Workout. Keep the Commitment.
This is the single most effective summer retention strategy I know.
When life gets busy, a 45 minute workout feels impossible. A 20-25 minute workout? Completely doable. Even on a crazy day.
The mistake coaches make is holding onto their regular programming structure because it feels like dropping the length means dropping the quality.
It doesn’t.
A 20 minute tempo session done with full intention will OUT-perform a 45 minute slog every single time. The science backs this up — intensity and technique drive results, not duration.
Action step: Look at your May programming right now. Can you tighten sessions to 20-25 minutes without losing the result? If yes — do it. Your clients will thank you. Their compliance will go UP not down. And that means they’re still with you in September.
2. Make Showing Up the Win — Not the Workout.
In summer, consistency is the goal. Not intensity. Not progression. Not PBs.
Showing up IS the achievement.
The coaches who communicate this clearly to their clients in May set them up for summer success. The ones who don’t? They watch clients disappear because they missed a week, felt guilty, and quietly stopped opening the app.
Action step: Send your clients a message this week — before May starts — and tell them exactly this. “Summer is coming and I want you to know — showing up for even 20 minutes counts. We’re not chasing perfect. We’re chasing consistent.”
That one message can save a client relationship that would have otherwise quietly faded. It costs you nothing. It means everything to them.
3. Have Your Content Ready BEFORE the Month Starts.
This one is for YOU as much as your clients.
Here’s what happens to coaches every summer without a content plan — May 1st arrives, life is already busy, and suddenly you’re scrambling to create workouts, film content, write captions and send emails while ALSO trying to actually coach your clients.
That scramble leads to inconsistent posting. Inconsistent posting leads to reduced visibility. Reduced visibility leads to fewer enquiries. Fewer enquiries leads to a stressful summer wondering where your next client is coming from.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. And you cannot show up consistently for your audience when you’re creating everything last minute.
Action step: Block out time THIS weekend to map your entire May content calendar. Know what’s going out every week before the month even starts. Even better — have it scheduled and ready.
And if the content creation itself is what’s eating your time? Keep reading. I’ve got you. 😉
4. Keep It Fresh. Variety Kills Summer Boredom.
Summer clients are distracted clients. They’re outside more, they’re stimulated more, they have more options competing for their attention.
The fastest way to lose a summer client is to serve them the same format week after week until it becomes background noise.
Fresh content — new moves, new formats, new challenges — is what keeps them curious. Curious clients are engaged clients. Engaged clients are retained clients.
Action step: Look at your May programming and ask yourself honestly — is there enough variety to keep someone genuinely excited to show up each week? If the answer is even slightly uncertain — add something new. A new training style. A new format. A new challenge structure.
Tempo training is PERFECT for this by the way — because even familiar moves feel completely brand new when the tempo changes. 😉
5. Be Consistent Yourself — Even When It’s Hard.
Your clients are watching you more than you know.
When you show up consistently — posting, coaching, communicating — it signals safety. It signals that you’re not going anywhere. It builds the kind of trust that keeps clients renewing month after month through every season.
When coaches go quiet in summer — even briefly — clients notice. And some of them quietly start looking for something more reliable.
Action step: Commit to your minimum viable content output for May RIGHT NOW. Not your ideal output — your minimum. The number of posts, emails, or check-ins you will absolutely deliver no matter how busy summer gets. Write it down. Hold yourself to it.
Because YOUR consistency is the foundation your clients’ consistency is built on.
